Pros

Don't overthink this purchase. Took out a knee wall to create an open railing with balusters. Used these on oak railing going on on angle up the stairs. If you're handrail has a low profile you'll need to buy the low profile units.

Cons

Great idea but very poorly executed. Instructions are terrible.

The gear driven nut is horrible. The tightening mechanism is junk. The lag bolt gear piece (hex driver portion) must be made of inferior metal and striped out on the first two i attempted.

The nut has a hex key opening on the bottom so you can spin the fastener without any access. The fastener only seems to engage if you get the holes drilled exactly on center. I'd already measured and pre-drilled everything, so the holes are in the han... Read More

Had to cut it. Used wax and a bit slightly larger than 1/4, still broke one and had to pry it out with a chisel and wrench. Had to break seal and remove hardware and toss it. At this point i had to resort to clamping the rail.
