So while its a nice sturdy backpack if youre going on long hikes you might want to consider yukons stokeridge 3day pack

The rainfly is very good to have if youre not carrying a tent a bulkier item and eliminates the need for a waterproof tarp unless you want that to put under you the ground really sucks the heat out of you so its not just a matter of keeping the elements off your head

The knife in the pack is adequate but needs to be fiddled with in order to get the locking mechanism to engage
