Pros & Cons
Pros
Some of the cheaper depth stops use two small grub screws to secure the stop. These are infinitely better than the ring and grub-screw alternatives. Wide clamping collar design is easier to adjust and tighten.
The wolfcraft uses a hex head screw on a fixed nut, and expands or contracts the aperture which is on a hinge. When tightened on the drill bit, it grips all of it to give a solid hold.
They work well due to clamping all the way round the drill bit. They fit nice and snuggled onto the bridport drill bits. Use thes for drilling into plasterboard to avoid anything behind the wall.
They are a bit fiddly to set up. Very pleased with results. Arrived today. Used it successfully first time.
Cons
The nut housing needs to be re-worked to prevent the nut from spinning in place when tightening. This is because the screw that is supposed to clamp the guide is not long enough. Could have been usable if the nut was restricted from turning in the col... Read More

I was using depth stops that have a pin which you screw into the drill bit these often come loose and end up falling off

This problem is no longer with these wolfcraft stops

The fit of the 6mm 14 depth stop to a 14 drill is marginal since the locking screw has to be undone almost completely to allow the depth stop to be fitted to the drill

With lots of other depth stops there is a single grub screw trying to grip a round drill bit
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
What happens with that is that it slips while youre drilling and you end up missing the stop

Very frustrating especially if its the difference between a good job and ruining a perfectly good bit of wood

Now cant see why anyone would make depth stops any other way as the others with just a locking screw seem pointless now
