So it it’s pretty small maybe just enough space for the torso part of a shirt

The ironing mat makes it easier to do that since it’s so light and can just be thrown across the table counter etc and then just put back up

You have to get a little creative when ironing a buttondown since the front and back of the shirt can interfere with the process if they cannot dangle off the ironing surface as they do with a traditional ironing board
