Consdespite the apparent accuracy of this tread depth gauge it sometimes feels like there is an inner part loose and it clunks a little when you lift it off the tire surface for example to take it from out beneath the tire well because the fender is making it difficult to read

Usage notes1 remember to position it over an inner groove that is not the outer or innermost grooves between the tread sections also position it on the top of the tire with the readings popping up toward the blue yonder and lastly do not put it on a tire replacement indicator bead inside the groove feel with your finger or something or visually confirm this
