I've mounted two different smart phones and a garmin gps to this thing and they all hold pretty well.

The rubber that holds my phone is quite soft, so i'm not sure how durable it'll be.

The rubber that holds the phone in place blocks part of the screen and prevents one from touching the screen at those spots, which is a minor irritant, but overall doesn't prevent the use of the gps on my phone.
