Once you learn how to properly use it, the results are now better than ever. Strongly recommended.
Wash your hands and the sharpener in mild soappy water. Their are two tricks to sharpening. Sharpening knives is easy once you get the technique down.
This diamond honing rod keeps a good edge on all the knives between sharpening. Pairs well with a ceramic rod after using this one.
Cons
My review is for the inaccurate description and eyeballing it vs. This one loses its grit immediately. Scared to even try with my * steel.

You should go over the knife with a sharpening steel to set the edge as this is more of a sharpening tool than a honing tool

A steel surface stick or plate is coated with a thin coat of molten nickel very hard stuff then before the nickel cools and hardens it is sprayed with diamond dust of a selected fineness which has been artificially manufactured the russians figured out how to artificially grow large flawless diamonds around 2002 or so and sold that technology soon thereafter i digress
