Pros & Cons

Pros

Despite these shortcomings, the ranch kettle is a pleasure to use and produces spectacular results no other grill can match. My favorite is this absurd beast, which is for those who have fun learning and are not afraid to mess up. Worth every penny.

It does it all and does it better than any other grill i've ever used in my 55 some odd years of barbecuing. It really is * grilling, but for those that can look at a steak and tell medium from medium rare, by the juices, you will enjoy.

When off, the lid nestles nicely into a cradle formed by the stainless semicircle attached to the back of the unit. The lid has a turned up lip around it's circumference that will catch rainwater.

Cons

It won't have and cheap plastic wheels on it nor will it be built out of thin gauge sheet metal!

People are familiar with the kettle style weber grills but they are always amazed how huge this grill is

This is unlike the premium 22inch weber kettle where the lid completely covers the edges of the base

It was truly worth the hefty price of admission

I just wish the price of these would come down

One of my very favorite falloffalog easy suppers is two large chickens in the kettle over apricot wood and charcoal

Keep your lid closed and the heat boils inside and evenly cooks the contents of the kettle

I recommend the metal charcoal bays to control the hot zones inside the kettle

Competitiveness

Ive managed to keep the cooking grate clean with a heavyduty scouring pad and hot water in addition to the standard wire grill ...  Read More

My first smoke was a 16lb butt and 10 ears of corn came out great

Followed by a 24lb turkey 2 full slabs baby back ribs and now a 7lb flat brisket

If anyone ever made one at a 700 or 800 price point they would own the market

Dont remember the exact price but it was not over 750

I rarely ever use it anymore though

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Unless youre cooking a lot of food it just requires too much fuel for a normal cooking session

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I thought 750 was expensive back 2002 but at the current price id have a hard time justifying it considering all of the other options

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

In the past 6 years ive worn out 2 brinkmanns which each lasted 3 years before the heat of cooking severely warped some of the key parts of each grill

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I went to my local home improvement store to replace my latest grill and i was dismayed to observe that the new brinkmanns seem to be made of a lower grade of steel

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Theres no way the new brinkmanns would stand up to really heavy usage
