For years i was buying toshiba canvio basics drives for myself and colleagues and i found them totally satisfactory until a few days ago when two of them failed in quick succession mechanically prematurely and irreparably — one of them after just 12 hours of nonintensive use

Until it stopped working and i cant retrieve the data

The arm inside has stuck in the on position so the disk cant rotate and the data cant be removed by just partitioning the drive it being a hardware fault rather than the simpler software one
