Once you have screwed into the cork there is a two step pull

The screw is hollow and inserts into corks easily without too much pressure

If i was being picky id complain that the engraved metal inlay on the back of the corkscrew wasnt perfectly cut and not perfectly flush with the rest of the components check yours and if not satisfied ask for an exchange
