    The former's protagonist, zachary taylor, is swept up in what is ostensibly a scientific investigation of a sub-glacial lake in antarctica and its' potential denizens, but eventually requires the aid of the former's jonas taylor, when the mission goes haywire.

    There are many scenes in vostok that are jaw-dropping, not the least of which is when one of our heroes is forced to pilot a small sub through a forest of vertically sleeping giant prehistoric sperm whales.
