Pros
River is a gripping and sometimes gritty tale of a life-changing renewal for her. She meets the local bar/restaurant owner jack sheridan who may have something to do with her decision whether to stay.
A marine recruiter comes out and introduces himself as staff sergeant gomez. Jack corrects him by saying there are no ex_marines.
Cons
Once the main characters become more than friends this book becomes nothing more than a * harlequin romance. The characters are insanely stereotypical and cliche. Also sadly missing is the mystery of paige, and the tender protectiveness preacher shows... Read More
The book makes jack seem like a *-crazed maniac. His inner monologue just berates this woman and treats her like trash.
It makes me sad that books like this become bestsellers. The verbiage reads like it was written in 1920. It's an easy read, but doesn't flow well in several parts and uses very odd language in others ( "boy howdy", "fanny").
