It is very thin wood and i would not assume the handle would hold it if lifted when full.

Seems well made - but beware: it is small (smaller than it even appears from the photos).

Also, one of hinges was mounted crooked so when closing the lid has to be wiggled a bit to line it up straight.

It looks beautiful but the latch does not close all the way so it would be good to buy a vintage looking lock to go with it.
