It has 2 way communication so i can tell him to go to bed that is if his headphones arent in it has an awesome vox setting that is a power saving setting where the mother unit will remain in standby you wont see a picture or hear the buzzing of the microphone listening to an empty room

The vox setting will not shut off in high mode because of the fan and white sound machine noise in the bedroom

It will shut of when it is in the low mode but at least two random times it has not worked when noise is made
