One of the small plastic fasteners that keeps the cooling tower attached to the base was broken before i got it but it doesnt affect how the machine runs at all just a simple annoyance that there is anything broken but its likely from being shaken or dropped during shipping

I dont think the damage is bad enough to warrant a refund or return in my opinion

Leave it as long as you like and then empty the reservoir and towel off the mineral buildup should be gone but if not then at least its loosenedup and you can chip it away
