    If left on, sometimes the lens can rattle as it is looking for movement, a known issue most users now know about, so put it off (it is only for slow shutter speeds, and hand held camera work anyway).

    Each switch is three-positional, and allows the tripod leg to go out to a normal angle, a medium angle, or a shallow angle (this one is shown on the amazon description image).

    My giottos went on ebay a week after i got this - nothing wrong with it, but it was a studio tripod really, i just bought the wrong one.
