Unifi uses a local controller (client pc with java app, not a dedicated device) to configure and manage multiple ap's.

Initial set-up was a little bit a of pain, not the physical set-up but the computer set up.

The incredibly strong signal-strength (-25 db) of this ap resolved all of our long-standing wi-fi coverage, latency and 'dead-spot' issues we had with our former wi-fi router.

Also be advised that ubiquiti makes several versions of the access points; you might want to google ubiquiti access point comparison chart to determine which exact model is going to best suit your needs; they have it all.
