Pros

This is a $300 router and it outperforms $1200 cisco units. Hands down the best value in small business routing equipment there is. No other business class (or home / soho) router anywhere near this price point is even close. Great protection for my n... Read More

Nice router, completely configurable. The interface is great and can be done via cli or through the web gui. The cli is really how you want to configure this thing and you need to know what you are doing.

Cons

Some i like some i dislike, this router bypasses dislike and goes straight to hate. Big disappointment for me.

The graphical user interface is minimal and has bugs. The firmware that came pre-loaded was an ancient version of the os. You really have to minimally configure it, then download the latest os.

Still have some issues with the load balancing but that is more a configuration issue than actually a product issue

You need to be familiar with the product and its behavior

This is surprisingly fast and has a ton of great features

Packaging/appearance

I had it out of the box and routing my traffic in 15 minutes

What drove me to consider ubiquiti was the frequent issues i had with our existing router

Competitiveness

If youre considering this for home use i can highly recommend pairing this with ubiquiti ap ac pro for wireless

Now i had a r8000 netgear which when i bought it wasnt much cheaper than this er8

It was the last item to get running to switch my house over to ubiquiti equipment
