Pros

The radio menu is odd but if you read the manual first it's easy to adapt to. The software is quite simple for programming the radios 800 memory channels as well. This can also be programmed on the fly through the keypad very easily.

The radio provides 2w of audio power which is plenty to get the volume you need. Only real downside is that i was getting about 28 watts on uhf transmit but compared to my upgraded kenwood, it hardly makes a difference. Only feature negative for me is... Read More

It does 4 bands, but i only use it for vhf and uhf. All repeaters are fm. I believe usa has fm repeaters on all those bands as well as simplex fm frequencies.

This radio has definitely made it a whole lot cooler. I just hope both of these radios last for awhile once out of warranty.

It's everything a scanner is and ham radio too! According to the little stickers on the unit and the box it came in, it is the plus version.

Cons

Tyt refuses to warranty the radio & it's completely bricked now. Tried calling tech support, number is no good.

The scan is slightly deaf on the right side of the radio on uhf frequencies. Only six character alpha channel names and some of the indicators are so small i can't see them from a comfortable distance. Advertised at 50 watts but wont transmit on more ... Read More

Nz asked for $40 nz for the freight back. If you do buy this product make sure you have a written quarantee they will fix it for you freight free - and that they will communicate with you.

Radio worked good for four days and then it started getting this constant deep tone and i could not transmit or receive

Simple programming with chirp you can copy from one to the other in less time then it takes to talk about it

I think they are great radios for the price point

The item is an amazing feat at a very reasonable price

If they go on a good enough sale you can bet i will get a third one for the other car at some point

Just a quick review got local repeaters in quickly and used 3 of the hyper memory keys under a hour

Be advised with mine the software shipped with this radio was totally incorrect but easily solved through internet search

Competitiveness

It is similar to the yeasu 8900 which is no longer made

Even the alphanumeric name of a channel can be set or edited unlike the baofeng that needs to be done on a computer to access that option

Honestly the tyt is almost as good and is a much better value for money
