This model seems to perform comparably to the tp-link tl-wn822n high gain that i have been using.
This adapter is not plug-n-play for my laptop and requires running the setup wizard with the installation cd.
I was able to do plug-n-play installation on my desktop pc but the performance is very poor without the installation of the tp-link driver.
Overall, i am very happy with the adapter.

I tested the performance of this wireless usb adapter with my dell windows 10 laptop in a remote room of the house by using the speedtest.
Competitiveness
This is my third tp-link usb 3.
I switched to tplink after having a competitors fail due to heat.
I decided on the t4uhp because it claims to be a high-power model.

Downstairs (closer to the router) this usb adapter gave me about 12 mbits down, 3 up, compared to 28 mbits down, 3 up for the built-in wifi.

There are two other computers on the same hub, so when we're all moving lots of data things can slow down.

Even adding another physical card won't do much good since it will still be connected to the same congested hub.

With this wireless connection, i'm connecting across the office to a different router running in bridge mode.
