This review is about tp-link tl-sg108pe. Setup was a breeze. Otherwise works fine.
The poe and gigabit speeds work great. They both work well, but updates for v2 stopped a couple years ago. It's fast and has two features i needed, poe and vlan support. It will serve me well for years to come.
Looks and works pretty nicely. If you're willing to tinker, this is definitely worth the money. Work as advertised for a very decent price for a managed switch.
My mother lives in one of those sprawling rambler houses. No matter where the router is, there are a lot of walls and things between the router and somewhere.
Cons
The interface is absolute garbage. You can only manage the switch if you are on the same untagged network as the switch. It has a fan that isn't very quiet. It cannot be used with devices that have voltage protection on ethernet ports.
The random mac changes every time the switch is restarted. Afer a reboot it fixes the issue for about 2 minutes then it starts up again. You can't set the password to anything containing special characters or anything longer than 16 characters.

I already had vlans set up with my wifi routers on freshtomato and pfsense as main router
I am used to using cisco and juniper products all these years and using the cli command line interface with them
There are different hardware versions and i received on with v2 and the other was v5

Solid poe switch but is completely invisible to the network there is no localhost web login to monitor etc even though the documentation available suggestsimplies there is one but there is none if youre looking for that

While that is a bad thing i was able to jump on support chat with ronald and he quickly diagnosed it as a failed until and issued a replacement ticket

The switch plugs into a tplink deco for wifi since it is located in a stand alone garage

My only two comments would be i wish the power supply was built in or not so large
