This is much easier than shaving the pins not to mention you wont lose any integrity of the strength of the plastic

The reason behind this is the plastic sleeve not sure what else to call it that is used to secure the bolt into the toilet base

It doesnt securely attach the bolt to the base so there is play in the seat no matter how tightly the bolt is turned

The seat closes more slowly than my previous wooden seat and i am concerned that at some future point it will stop closing altogether

Installed in less than 10 minutes its not rocket science just follow the directions and remember that dumbies all over the world do this dont overthink it

Finicky setup required but it works well once installed properly and the biggest reason for using this one comes off with the push of a button for cleaning

I argued with amazon that i was not about to waste my time repacking labeling driving and standing in line at the post office to ship broken junk back to them that it was really not worth my time to do so do to relative cheap price
