I have read a lot of reviews by others, there is no back focus issue or otherwise af issue with this lens (at least with mine).

I guess others prefer the type of focusing where mf override is always available, but i dislike it because that type of focusing means if you accidentally twist your focus ring while in af mode, you can throw off the camera's focus.

About focus problems -- soon after getting the lens, my camera decided to stop using af and i thought i had just paid for a dud.

Well, i hadn't been doing that - i just engaged the clutch (while keeping the d800 in af mode) and would mf, then back to af.

I tried engaging the clutch back and forth, remounted the lens, cycled camera power a few times -- nothing worked.

So, there's some sort of bug or whatnot where eventually they just stop talking - even though mf action works just fine if you only activate the mf on the lens.

    Sharp, hardly any edge distortion.
