Pros & Cons
Pros
The world building is interesting and the characters endearing. My only complaint is that i struggled a bit to figure out all the timekeeping references. The layout of the cities and houses responsible for those regions is a bit dizzying at first.

They meet a lot of friends along the way and it doesn’t take away from anything and the side characters aren’t just meaninglessly places in the story

I think the only part i found slow was at the very beginning and thats not really a fault of the writingplot i understand completely why davin did it as it sets up a few key relationships as much as its my personal preference as i tend not to enjoy prose with a child narrator

The characters were welldeveloped and it felt like i was reading a lost tamora pierce novel from her secret scifi days but the only scifi element is the world itself which underpins everything but never makes the reader uneasy because it never makes the characters uneasy

I tore through this entire series

The narrators are nuanced and compelling and seeing queer representation in a way that didn’t center on the characters’ hardships as queer women was so refreshing

It was engaging enough to make me want to read the next book but not buy it at regular price
