Ivan doig was raised by his single father and sturdy grandmother. Doig's writing is a joy in and of itself to read, and he tells his story in such a way that it touches the human soul without being maudlin. I am now hooked on doig.

About 13 of the way into the book each page began to lose text and the next page began at a confusing place not related to the sentence preceding it

I dont know what causes those kinds of interruptions but there were a great many enough to stop me finally from continuing to read to the end

I spent some time reading on but when the interrupted sentences continued no matter how far i read i had to stop
