Pros
Big fan of thermacell. It works like a charm! Definitely need to click start a few times to make sure it starts working.
Replacements are expensive, but 100% worth it. Definitely going to stock up on refills. Blue pads and canister available that last longer than the starter kit. Going to order refills now.
Cons
This item isn't returnable, so buyer beware. The planned obsolescence is just horrid. The quality itself is very poor, super cheap plastic that’s fiddly. It is woefully poorly designed and built.
The butane cartridges seem to empty before the estimated 12 hour protection time, and the refills are expensive. The liquid in the cartridge was gone in 3 hours tops. The refill cartridges and pads are definitely over priced.
Keeping these lanterns fed with chemical squares, butane cylinders, and 4-aa batteries is simply cost-prohibitive. The lanterns look nice but you have to manually push button to turn the lantern on and off. Literally have two mosquitoes crawling on th... Read More

I had a really old version of this thermacell mosquito lantern and it lasted forever at least 15 years

And yes the refills cost more than the product
The refill cartridges and pads are definitely over priced
All in all though i spent 90 on an electric that failed completely to stop a single mosquito

For ease of use i would say the downside is just user error if you forget to turn the darn thing off you will run through the fuel cartridge in no time at all
