Pros & Cons
Pros
Holy mackerel. This tough mattress is for smart and serious backpackers who want to camp light. This thing has tons of different uses.
Folds up smaller and easier than any conventional bedroll on the market. Great for backpacking if you’re sick of the air mattresses getting leaks. It folds up accordion style so it is easy to transport and it is lightweight.
The reflective coating on these does a good job as a layer between you and the ground. On cold winter camp trips you will be thankful for that layer. Kept me warm in the bwca under my sleeping bag while using a hammock sleep system.
Highlights
Quality
It will also bump up the insulating value of your inflatable sleeping pad if it is under it with the silver side up
The mattress has really good quality i already used it more that 10 times in really cold weather and my back was not cold at all
Price
Love everything but the price the reflective side retains body heat extremely well
Packaging/appearance
However after about two weeks i have swithed back to the thermarest sol
I brought this and a inflatable blow up sleeping mat and ended up only using the thermarest z lite sol ultralight sleeping mat
Competitiveness
I just returned from my first overnight camping trip and i was very pleased at how well my new thermarest 34z34 mattress worked
I placed this pad inside my hammock along with my underquilt on the outside of my hammock and stayed toasty warm
I almost prefer it to a supersoft bed
We were psyched to find this on sale for 75 less than a new thermarest

I guess it was because there was no weight on it

I would end up with my feet on the hard ground which is a nonissue with me

The number one reason i bought it is for hammock camping

However after about two weeks i have swithed back to the thermarest sol
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
The sol has maintained its comfort while the switchback on the other hand has lost a great deal of its support and its foam feels like it has compressed
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
Now both has been on the same bare wooden platform and have not been tested on uneven rocky ground
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
However because the switchback has become uncomfortable on such a flat surface i would not trust it in such environments

As a big guy my elbows do tend to fall off the sides but making it wider wouldn’t make sense for carrying
