The themes of power and the psychology of * are still there, like in 20p. The characters are like real people, complex and flawed with motivation the reader will understand, sometimes with a guilty twinge.

Blood is spilled. There are some editor mistakes but they are minor and as picky as i am i easily forgave them due to my enjoyment of the story. And lastly, the capital n is not a typo.

The clerks are the same age as the prince's chums, yet they apparently graduated already and are now doctors?
One of the pompous little brats did some sort a magic spell. It’s extremely dangerous, even fatal to try for seasoned wizard or magician. This book is lame.

The story also has a strong critique of the idea of empires built into it without any of the characters having to come out and say that the concept of imperialism is bad
