Pros

Finished it the next day, different premise but what a ride. It definitely kept my interest - i'm now on book 3 and the story continues to enchant.

The characters progress over the course of the whole series to become powerful being. As the series progresses the power of each character grows. Characters are relatable and realistic.

Dave has the ability to conjure objects. He learns smithing and the items begin to have a stronger internal makeup. The machinations of the powerful dictate how those less powerful live.

The mc is powerful, but he doesn't come off as a demigod in training.



Cons

This is worse than the beta mc. The training montage is long and involved, but very bland. The mc is an idiot who has everything handed to him.

The story loses its own thread so often that i had to skim multiple sections our of boredom. Characters are dull, flat and don't feel even remotely like real persons. Also the protagonist seems troublingly ok with his former life being a lie.

The author spends a lot of words on info dumps. I seriously regret giving the author even the paltry kindle unlimited commission.

The main character saves his stats so that leveling is meaningless even though he's told that if he doesn't accustom himself to those stats he will lose them when he dies. All game experience, levels and leveled stats are useless. Why would the main c...  Read More

Idea that this in-matrix individual somehow became a trillionaire off of asteroid mining is absurd. Not because the empire is sclerotic or decaying or fractured.
