If youre a first time programmer with absolutely no idea how to get started this book should probably be the second or third book you should read

Maybe some ideas or additional php projects the reader can try to write on his own even if theyre just a couple of sentences describing the project with no code to get the reader started

In response to another poor post i saw here i might add that at the authors suggestion in the book i added the code to protect against sql injection

I went online for a search and i was surprised although with all the selfrighteous programmers who are clearly better than me just ask them i shouldnt have been how often a newbie would ask for help with a snippet of code and several users would pounce on them about 1

Here the author shows us how to code with the bare minimum then after we understand it he shows the risks and what needs to be done to protect the code we have written

I took a star off because the author is somewhat loose and unstructured in his coding my ide had a few suggestions for improvement

I supplemented this with the typical oreilly type manual

That brought precise structured coding but had the slow ponderous learn everything first before you do anything interesting problem
