For my location this is what i recommend to people who neglect their gutters. Easy to put together and install. Also if you plan to fix your problem with expensive gutter caps know that dirt and sluge accumulations are are very heavy.

Slowly zoom in on one domicile from above: loose asphalt, pine needles, some leaves and random wind blown seeds, gather upon the roof, giggling quietly among themselves like mad imps, waiting for the next rain storm, to be carried over the edge, into your gutters, only to slowly get lodged in the exact middle of your downspout.

I have tried many different downspout protector devices and they all clog up with leaves one way or another.
