    The only problem is that you have to be able to get reception with the antenna and if you are in a bad spot, you may not get anything.

    Charging your cell phone with the radio: works by solar, also by cranking the handle, and if your radio battery is fully charged, that will also re-charge the cellphone.

    But, you must have your own usb to phone recharge adapter/which you probably have anyway.

    If it does not continue to show re-charging, then the most reliable way to charge the cell phone is with the hand crank; worked successfully over many attempts with the device.

    I am comparing the eaton emergency radio (pictured below).

    The eaton is slightly larger and heavier the knobs on front stick out.
