The depth and breadth of jemisin’s story is remarkable as is the layered and fractured world she creates. She weaves together a compelling narrative that reveals itself slowly, heightening your anticipation.

The writing, plotting, and characters are likely to make me read the previous volumes. The humor is not belly laugh type but is there and * is ever present and raw. The trilogy is beautiful and moving.

The book switches between three main povs. The final pov is that of syanite, a ringed orogene who has been sent on a mission with the only ten-tinged male. One thing that i absolutely love is the use of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person pov.



Cons

The fifth season begins with an incredibly dense prologue, in which the author switches frantically between points of view. The author takes a perverse pleasure in making the plot hard to understand.
