Pros & Cons

Pros

Steven brust's baron of magister valley is no less a loving tribute than the previous works. Valabar makes a memorable dish as brust make a memorable tale.

For the lover of the khaavren romances, nothing needs to be said. As usual - quite the plat twists and some references to previous works.

This is number 6 in a series of standalone novels. I forgot just how much happens in that book and how much backstory into this series there is. The main cast is well written and sympathetically to boot.

Two houses suffer at the hands of those who are greedy and corrupt. Those of another spend many years one step ahead of pursuers.

Cons

Way too much cutesy dialog to wade through to get to the plot. Lots of filler that adds nothing to the story.
