This definitely detracts from their coolness -- that is, if you think it's ever possible for flip flops to look cool -- and gives them a kind of elderly man slipper flip flop vibe.

Not the best shoes for doing the moon walk in or for tap dancing, but everything else under the sun can be done while wearing or at least thinking about these flip flops.

The only drawback that i have noticed is that the straps (which are so comfortable, i forget they are there) sometimes fall flat on the sandal and it can be a pain to try to put them on without looking (because i have to lift the part of the strap and then put my foot in there).
