I had to tap a few times on each letter to stamp it deep enough in the steel, but all the letters came out really clear.

I did about 20 keys when i first got them, and the first punch is certainly the clearest, but i bet they’ll be usable for a couple hundred at least.

As observed by others, there is no orientation at the base of the tool and it is therefore wise to have a piece of scrap metal to ensure you have the letter/number turned as you would wish.
