Pros & Cons
Pros
Tc-770lc pre-amp has excellent sound with no hiss or hum. Small packaging belies the true amplification power of this unit. Pre-amp actually makes my old 70's turntable louder than the aux source.
P-mount at cartridge with elliptical stylus works well. New v-15 v elliptical * brush can be bought on line from lp gear.

Price
The absurdly expensive turntables are also a waste of money
I noticed no improvement after using the various discwashing machines and overpriced fluids
Either they were too expensive 200300 or they were a big heaping amp and i wanted an elegant small solution
For under 100 i cant imagine a better preamp
Packaging/appearance
The small packaging belies the true amplification power of this unit
Competitiveness
In fact its lightweight tonearm and good suspension comprise a turntable system better than all its overpriced competitors
4 mv and ortofon says it will work in a mm input even though it has less than half the normal output
I have not found the shibata stylus to be worth its exorbitant price
The only alternative is a marantz model 7 unfortunately i sold mine years ago for 6k
