Having set up a canister filter or ten i didnt need them but i read through it just to see what the bad reviews were about

Trust me it tells you exactly how to set it up how to manually prime it and its about the same amount of instructions i received with a cascade 100 i purchased 6 months ago minus a reprint in another language halfway through and 6 pages of safety warning

If its your first canister then yeah it might look written in greek and confusing but the directions are solid

Note that this filter is very small and in my vivarium it only filters a couple of gallons of water

I would not expect this flow rate to be worth having for any tank larger than 10 gallons

Pros1 its a small inexpensive filter that works great most filters are overpriced in my opinion
