These lights are really great although im no veteran of led projects

I can now say that is no longer true there is a library on adafruit designed for these lights to run on the pi

Check for an open source project authored by jeremy garff rpiws281x that will run all the 2811 stuff on the pi

Also i found the same as an earlier reviewer that the wire colors are not clearly described the white is data red is 5vdc and blue is ground
