Quality

After having such a good experience with the ds409 and the ds 109 i recently took delivery on a new ds214play

The user interface isnt awesome but it works out fine and is easy to deal with

Overall i am reasonably satisfied with the nas so far

Still the streaming quality is really good event with 1080p formats 720p max for mkv with apple tv

Packaging/appearance

My very much older synology diskstation was unable to reliably process audiovideo on the fly to my chromecast

Once the synology nas is setup it is not completely hands off

Competitiveness

The features and peace of mind easily pay for themselves when considering these nas units over the competition

The synology units seem to be a bit more expensive than the competition but are worth every penny

Didnt even recognize my 2tb external usb drive

If you cant afford this model i would still recommend a less expensive synology nas model
