I've been taking supplemental lithium for over a year. I started out with the orotate form but I switched to aspartate after reading about the possible cancer risks associated with orotate. They seem to work the same, as in they really level me out. I have what I think is cyclothymia (mild bp basically) and it controls my symptoms well. I ran out and didn't take any for a week and definitely noticed it a few days in. I'll probably always be taking these forever but it beats the prescriptions. Without it I'm a mess. I'd take it at night bc it can cause some drowsiness.   Read Less

Low dose Lithium is supposed to help with memory and reduce Alzheimer's - which my father had. You can look up the article Should We All Take a Bit of Lithium? By the way, 7Up used to be made with Lithium.I take one Swanson 5mg Lithium Aspartate each day. It has not discernible effect, but the low cost makes this a good investment.   Read Less
