The ball valve in the brass end is what does the trick you just shake that end into the reservoir that you wish to pull gas from a few time until the gas works its way through the hose and then physics takes over from there

The nice thing is the ball valve rattles while its pulling gas so you not only see the gas but you hear the ball valve feedback as well

The faster the gas is traveling the higher the frequency of the ball valve noise

Cant beat this price and product but as i said dont buy it with the thought that you will siphon gas out of your car

Just sit the gas can down and after a few shakes of the nozzle it all flows in
