It shuts off automatically after 3 hours.

We only use the lowest setting and she is supervised 24-7 when blanket is plugged in.

It works great, but there are a couple of issues.

One is the cord for the controller is too short so you have to have the plug in for the blanket up by your chest when you are using it.

The other thing is the light on the controller is so bright, it actually makes ambient light - i had to wrap it up in a sock.
