As i had the same problem with the bumper and had to add ties where the slats were located

However after being washed a few times the top is worn quite a bit and most of the elastics are frayed and even ruined

Now for the qualitythe basics it fits the snaps to attach it are uick easy and durable the top cloth is nice the mid layer is absorbance and the bottom is water proof not the crackle water proof but one that will stand up to a bazillion washings for 2 babys
