The coffee is placed in the top chamber of the stainless steel grinder and with more than several turns of that handle the grounds drop down through the ceramic screw thread into the bottom chamber which simply pulls apart from the top with a firm tug

The top and base just pull off rather than twist i would not trust it to store coffee ground or unground inside during tranist

This is better than an electric grinder in some ways the ceramic mill is better at grinding than the cheap electric ones with metal blades and it works on any amount of beans whereas the electric ones dont work properly unless you fill them a certain amount and with the cheaper ones you have to redistribute the beans during the process in order to grind them evenly
