Pros

This book is full of cogent stories in my estimate that keep you perusing on and on to finish the end of the chapter. The book has a few relevant black-and-white graphics as well as annotations / citations.

This work is entertaining and illuminating. Great even if you are a professional as it's conceptually profound. Very insightful stuff on the subcounscious mind.

M explores the world of probability, chance and randomness. Mlodinow writes in a capturing and enlightening way. He sometimes inserts low brow humor into his work.

The author presents in substantive detail what we provisionally (think) we know without force-feeding conclusions. His scientific training serves him well as a consummate teacher. A natural storyteller.

Cons

The book is written by a germanneurologist.

And until you understand how the unconscious works you are pretty much clueless as to why you are as you are

This explains many of my life experiences where someone relays stories i know or at least strongly believe to be untrue

Ive come to believe people truly believe these things happened and arent lying its just their brains way of dealing with events

It’s estimated by some that 95 of our cognition is at the subconscious level so the conscious mind is only the tip of the iceberg even though it may appear to be most of the iceberg

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

This plasticity of the subconscious mind can be exploited through techniques of influence such as marketing and placebos

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Our subconscious minds can also perceive things without our having any conscious awareness of them which furthers our susceptibility to being influenced by marketing placebos implanted expectations etc

Without our being aware of that influence
