Pros & Cons
Pros
Overall a fine tool from a reputable company. Good shape to the head, packs a punch when you swing it fast. I recommend it.
I learnt how to wield an axe in the cubs decades ago.
It's beautifully balanced and makes quick work of hardwood. Splits damp knotted logs with a bit if effort, and breezes through dry unkotted wood. I use this for self seeding trees which are too thick for felling.
Cons
The sharp part of the blade is sticking out of the packaging. It advertises a 'razorsharp' blade, but the top 3 inches are completely dull. After first swing in season oak the metal point bent.

As many commentators have said this axe isnt particularly sharp as received and so its somewhat misdescribed in the product details but so what can any axe keep a knifeedge given the way in which axes are used

Surely even a sharp knife would dull immediately upon being pounded into a piece of wood rather than sliced across it

At any rate this axe is made from mild steel and so would take an edge from a grindstone if necessary

You can spend a lot of money on a hatchet and end up with something that is not much better than this particular offering from spear and jackson

You bash it into wood and it chops like all choppers would if you bash it into wood

If you havent given it enough heft it bounces off rather than get stuck in the log
