    Nor, indeed, is it necessary to use the usb connection for the equipment to work with a computer - it can be connected with the provided rca connector to the line in of a sound card (with the turntable set on line), in which case no problem arises with not hearing playback and any audio software with a record button should work okay (by preference i don't use audacity).
