Pros

The sound is thick, rich and detailed, with focus on macro details. Has a nice airy almost 3 dimensional feeling like the music is around you. The sound stage is ridiculously extensive.

The sony mdr-ex800st and the mdr 7550 are the same. The ex800st caries the full u. S.

These things are amazing especially with the taped modification. Not fatiguing at all. It has really simple packaging.

These are bass beasts (w/tape mod) without compromise. When using these with a headphone amp it really opens up the sound and the bass hits you right in the chest. These have a good amount of bass, these large drivers move a lot of air.

Cons

These do not handle bass very well. They seem to stop at a certain point which if you're a composure can be an inconvenience.

A year later still happy with the sound

No one took the time to make a perfect fake replica with the same connections and everything

Japan import youre implicitly paying for tariffs and import fees which would not be necessary if sony sold these as a us product

Outstanding product in the plainest packaging i have ever seen

Caveats very plain packaging ordinary white box with everything in japanese not even a picture

As another has pointed out the packaging with this is basically a white box with a plastic insert to hold them in place

Competitiveness

I personally love it but ill be frank here it is not for everyone especially those who are used to sub 320kbps recordings

These iems seal well in my ear with oem or spinfit tips

Get rid of it immediately and buy an mmcx adapter
