So they claim this thing is however many lumens they say it is; my box said 800lm. It's pure baloney. To my eye, it's like maybe 300-400lm. My 500lm lanterns are noticeably brighter.However, I kinda figured this would be the case based on the cost and just a general knowledge of LED lumens/watt figures and battery prices. I knew it was going to be dimmer; physics and economics don't lie. What I wanted to see was if it would dim to nothing 3 hours before sunrise like so many other solar lights. To my very, very pleasant surprise this unit is as bright at dawn as it is at dusk. There is zero fade whatsoever.The cable is a bit short, which limits the versatility a bit but it puts a nice soft glow over the cars in the carport all night long even if it was a bit cloudy the previous day. For maximum charge, face the solar panel southward if possible at an angle facing the sun (not straight up and down, maybe a 30-45° angle).I'll probably be buying more of these even if they aren't as bright as claimed.  Read Less
